Urban Exploration: Bowood Farms

with No Comments

Ranging from succulents to festive garland and anything in between, Bowood Farms has everything you could possibly desire. Located on Olive Street in the Central West End, the exterior of the weathered, brick warehouse gives no indication of the lively world that lies beyond the chartreuse doors.

Bowood Farms is the perfect combination of a plant store and the home section of Anthropology. Walk in to a breath of fresh air provided by the wide variety of flora scattered around the store. An immense amount of natural light pours in from the huge windows that cover the walls, creating the feel of a greenhouse and allowing you to enjoy the beautiful St. Louis winter without sacrificing warmth. Browse for your new favorite possession among the amazingly curated selection of jewelry, greeting cards and tchotchkes that lay across various pieces of furniture. Don’t forget to say hi to the striped cat who lounges and naps around the store. After perusing every corner, stop for lunch at the attached Café Osage for a warm cup of tomato basil soup and a piece of perfectly fall pumpkin banana bread.

Leave the sanctuary that is Bowood Farms with goodies in hand and a full stomach before braving the brisk St. Louis winter.
